So the day has arrived and I am in the glorious city of Milan for the OnePlus Summer launch event where we have just witnessed the launch of a veritable bevy of new devices.
One Plus Nord 4
First up I want to talk about the OnePlus Nord 4, this is a device that I was very lucky to have the opportunity to have hands-on with for a few days before the event as I got an early preview unit. However, that being said the unit I received was a special edition that was only unveiled at the launch event today. You can get the Nord 4 in one of 3 different “Nordtones” (or colours) the two tones that had been announced before the event were Mercurial Silver and Midnight Black. We had to wait until today to announce the third tone. It is called Oasis Green and it is the one I have been given. This was inspired by the extremely active OnePlus Community who had shown a great interest in the colour of a previous device the OnePlus Nord LE. from images, OnePlus Nord4 also features new tools such as AI Best Face, AI Clear

AI Smart Cutout 2.0 is perfect for combining photos and adding fun elements to your
shots. Users simply select an item they want to copy – for instance a pet, or a loved
one – from the first picture, save it as a sticker and then drop it straight into their
second picture. Meanwhile the new AI Best Face and AI Clear Face tools, coming
later in the year, are designed to help improve photos when everything didn’t quite go
to plan. Whether that’s AI Best Face fixing a group selfie so that one friend with their
eyes closed can magically open them again, or whether it’s AI Clear Face helping

Fit for the future
At its Summer Launch Event, OnePlus also announced that OnePlus Nord 4 will
receive four major Android updates and six years of security updates, the longest
ever support package OnePlus has ever put in place. This will ensure OnePlus Nord
4 remains safe to use for many years to come, but OnePlus also stated that this
alone was not enough. At its Summer Launch Event, OnePlus stated that phones
with long software commitments but without extensive fast and smooth testing were
like strong houses built on weak foundations: they look good, but you wouldn’t want
to live in one.
To back up its commitment to providing fast and smooth experiences for its users,
OnePlus also announced that OnePlus Nord 4 features the longest ever fluency
rating awarded to a phone – 72 months of fluency, as certified by TUV SUD.
To achieve this unheard-of rating, OnePlus Nord 4 was subjected to a gruelling
range of tests over a tortuous period. These tests involved precisely measuring,
using a high-speed camera, how long a new phone takes to open apps and complete
a range of basic tasks. The phone was then put absolute hell by simulating six yearsof heavy use with a range of highly demanding tests. These tests involved copying
24GB of 4K video files onto it and deleting them at intervals to fragment the memory.
Then creating 8,500 photos, 850 music files and 85 videos. 4,500 pieces of contact
information, 15,000 text messages. 1,500 call records. Finally, OnePlus even
installed and deleted 180 applications to seriously stress the phone out. Only at this
point did OnePlus measure the time it takes to perform the same tasks as at the
start, and only when it achieved these tasks in an acceptable time did it pass
certification.
Only at this point was OnePlus Nord 4 deemed to have passed its fluency test and
officially receive its groundbreaking fluency rating.

OnePlus Pad 2
The next announcement was for the OnePlus Pad 2 Having recently reviewed the OnePlus Pad Go for the site I was particularly keen to see what the latest tablet from OnePlus was going to be about and I was not disappointed. The OnePlus Pad 2 comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor onboard and is supported by 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It still carries the same screen aspect ratios from the previous generation devices at 12.1′ diagonal but with an aspect ratio of 7:5 and a resolution 3,000 x 2,120 pixels at a density of 303 PPI. The screen will support up to 900 nits of brightness which will be great for use in all but the brightest of conditions. I will adjust the refresh rate depending on what is being done on the device at the time. The supported refresh rates start from 30Hz and go all the way up to 144Hz with various stops in between. There is an entire smattering of AI tools and cross-device tools on board here for you to use if you are within the OnePlus EcoSystem and I am excited to get into all of these in due course over the next few weeks.

OnePlus Watch 2R
Next up is the OnePlus Watch 2 R, this is a tweak to the design of the OnePlus Watch 2 that came out earlier this year and was very well received by reviewers including myself. The new Onepluds watch 2 is a refinement of that original design They have moved away from the asymmetrical design to that of a more standard style watch but they have kept the internals predominantly the same as what made the Watch 2 such a success. We still have the dual architecture OS allowing the Watch 2R to last for up to 10 hours in normal use. It is still running the same Wear OS 4 /RTOS platforms and 2 GB or RAm with 32 GB pf memory. The Watch 2 R also features dual-frequency GPS for enhanced location tracking, which is something I was missing on previous Wear OS smartwatches like the Pixel Watch 2. There have been some significant changes to the O Health App that should make it a bit more user-friendly for your health metrics from the watch.
